Sr. Mary Anne Peterson arrived at St. Bernard in 1965 as Principal of the Girl's Division.  She stayed involved with St. Bernard for 30 years thereafter as an assistant librarian and substitute teacher, returning full-time as Director of Alumni between 1982 and 1997.  Sr. Mary Anne believed fiercely in the SBHS mission to educate young Catholics, staying, "Teenagers are the most gorgeous people in the world -- generous, enthusiastic, and hope-filled in the true Christian sense of the word."

With an unrivaled passion for alumni, Sr. Mary Anne was instrumental in building an alumni database and keeping the Viking family intact across the nation and the world.  News from Playa del Rey was sent to alumni celebrating the accomplishments of our students and alumni, while also raising money for student scholarships.
Sr. Mary Anne's visions for St. Bernard High School now rests in our hands;
Help us continue to be a thriving community that offers excellent education and
Catholic faith formation to all who seek it.

Of alumni, she said, "It does my heart good when I receive letters that say, 'I wouldn't be where I am today, in terms of success, if it had not been for the education and love I received at SBHS."
